URIDIS System Demonstration

The inaugural deployment of URIDIS, a water-treatment technology developed through the MELiSSA POMP programme, at a public toilet facility in Ghent. URIDIS extracts phosphorus, nitrogen and salt from urine and pre-treats flush water for disinfection, cutting water consumption by up to 60% through source separation and reducing the nutrient load reaching downstream treatment plants. The installation was delivered with Hydrohm, a 2020 spin-off of Ghent University and Capture, and included the first Benelux installation of the Save! toilet by Laufen.
